Hi guys.

Here come the answer for the last exercise of WWW (What Went Wrong)? And then follow by the next WWW exercise. Let see what errors do we have to correct in the 6th exercise.


[:-$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$  What Went Wrong #6 - Correction  $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$-:]

  1. We will plan for a party since New Year’s day came will come.
  2. I was driving my car when suddenly the engine was stopping stopped.
  3. This matter do does not concern your boss directly.
  4. The town where I grow grew up has now becomes become a big city.
  5. Every houses in this village are is very old.
  6. In an economy economic crisis, most employees' salary has been raised.

Here are the explanation on those correction:
  1. We will plan for a party since New Year’s day came come  X
    Correction: We will plan for a party since New Year’s day will come.
    Explanation: The first clause is in future simple tense so the second one have to agree with the first one (the same structure).
    Reference: Chapter 7 Future Simple Tense
  2. I was driving my car when suddenly the engine was stopping.  X
    Correction: I was driving my car when suddenly the engine stopped.
    Explanation:  In this question, there are 2 events. The first action was happening and the the second one interrupted.
    Reference: Chapter 4 Past Continuous Tense
  3. This matter do not concern your boss directly.  X
    Correction: This matter does not concern your boss directly. 
    Explanation: Matter is singular noun so it needs "does" as verb to do to form negative statement.
    Reference: Chapter 1 Present Simple Tense
  4. The town where I grow up has now becomes a big city. X
    Correction: The town where I grew up has now become a big city.
    Explanation:  This is also the 2 events that happened in the pass. One action has happened and the other interrupted.
    Reference: Chapter 6 Past Perfect Tense
  5. Every houses in this village are is very old.
    Correction: Every house in this village is very old..
    Explanation: Every needs to follow with singular noun (house), it's verb needs to be in singular form too which is "is". This is the structure of this sentence.

    every/each/either + singular noun + singular verb form.

     
  6. In an economy crisis, most employees' salary has raised.  X
    Correction: In an economic crisis, most employees' salary has been raised.
    Explanation:  We need economy in adjective form to modify crisis. Economy is noun while economic is adj. The second error needs to be in passive form.
And here come the 7th WWW (What Went Wrong).
Can you identify the errors in this exercise?. Correction will be given in the next exercise as usual.
